The laboratory is continuously updating a resource base of bibliographic materials, manuals, and software related to qualitative and multi-method research including:

Bibliography of qualitative data analysis used in studies of mental health, mental retardation and developmental delays, family studies, human development, and techniques for systematically analyzing text.

 

Manuals and training materials for the use of software facilitating qualitative and multi-method research (e.g., Atlas.ti, NUD*IST, NVivo, Anthropac, FileMaker Pro).

 

A series of how-to manuals for the handling of qualitative data.

 

Software available for demonstration and user support:

A FileMaker Pro based EthnoNotes System
Flexible relational database management program. Available on multiple platforms(including Web Server version), customizable for various project purposes, and easily integrated with quantitative data.
Fieldnote Searcher (Word Macros)
Simple code and retrieve macros designed for Microsoft Word.
Anthropac
DOS based text management and analysis package capable of handling both free-form and structured text data with integrated strategies for pile-sort, triad, and other qualitative research designs.
Atlas.ti
Intuitive and powerful on-screen code and retrieve base. Integrates linking among text, codes, memos, and annotations and represents relations in graphical networks.
NUD*IST
Uses an evolving graphically represented hierarchical network of codes. Provides powerful search operations and allows for attaching memos to codes and documents.
Nvivo
New generation of NUD*IST which allows for the integration of multiple data sources (audio, video, text).
AskSam
Textbase manager specializing in handling both free-form and structured records and fields.
CDC EZ-Text
Intuitive tool designed to assist in the creation, management, and analysis of semi-structured qualitative data.
FolioViews
Free-form textbase manager with powerful searching, extensive hypertext, hierarchical outlining, and code and retrieve all in word processor format.
