The UCLA MRRC is a multidisciplinary research organization whose purpose is to provide new knowledge concerning the understanding and treatment of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (MRDD) . It attempts to fulfill this purpose in two ways:
  • by creating an environment in which research methodology and knowledge from traditional academic and clinical disciplines can be merged to focus on relevant basic and clinical research problems,

  • by training new investigators in research involving MRDD
MRRC faculty use multiple research approaches to study MRDD.
These approaches fit into the following research groups:
Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience and Neurogenetics Group
Clinical Research Group
Socio Behavioral Group
Systems Neuroscience Group
